Week 1 primer and I'll keep it unglamorous. Grambling State runs option football and is good at it. Option football is a test of gap discipline and tackling. Michigan State opens with a 4-2-5 that has never played a snap together. That's the matchup. The coach's age is not the matchup.

Two things I'll be watching that have nothing to do with the scoreboard. 1. How long it takes them to line up. 2. Whether the interior of the line can hold up on early downs without help. If a back is chipping on 2nd and 5 against an FCS front, that tells you something.
